Unveiled in 1936, the Canadian National Vimy Memorial commemorates the first time that all 4 Canadian detachments fought together at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Its inspiring columns are visible for miles around as a testament to the great hope for peace after the First World War, and is one of the few First World War monuments to survive the occupation of France intact.
